Our service is unlimited, and so is our concern for the environment.
We make sound environmental choices regarding paper, chemicals, equipment, printing processes, and waste disposal.
We recommend and regularly use recycled papers, such as Mohawk 100% recycled color copy paper, as the standard for our digital full color printing. We also carry a complete line of FSC certified stock, which is manufactured using environmentally- and socially-responsible methods.
Our Presstek Dimension 412 C-T-P Anthem chemistry-free metal platesetting system implements new technology that allows us to go directly from computer-generated files to metal printing plates, bypassing several steps involved in older technology. The process removes all silver-based negatives, developer, fixer, paper flats, plate-processing chemicals, and cleaning pads out of the waste stream. The net effect is a 50% drop in hazardous waste disposal.
In addition to reducing the amount of waste we generate, we reuse and recycle wherever possible. We dispose of about 85% of our excess using single-stream recycling. Additionally, we make this service available to our neighbors, Peppercorn Natural Foods and the Flying Monkey Performance Center. Some of the Common Man Family of Restaurants use our make-ready paper, which would normally go to landfills, as their order paper. We supply scrap paper for art projects to teachers and nonprofit groups.
We have taken a number of steps to lower our energy consumption, such as installing state-of-the-art programmable thermostats at our facility. As we go forward, we will continue to seek ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
